While artificial intelligence may be a useful tool in many industries, we believe it should be used cautiously and in moderation due to ethical concerns. We do not believe it can replace human artistic creativity, nor do we support attempts to use it in such a fashion.
That said, while we avoid generative AI, we acknowledge that other uses of AI may be largely unavoidable in present technology, such as in the use of search engines, anti-spam and anti-malware protection, spellchecking, etc.
We DO NOT use artificial intelligence:
- To generate our website, stories, blog posts, and newsletters.
- To generate replies to your comments or emails.
- To create outlines or give us ideas for our creative content.
- As a primary sentence editing tool.
- As a final source of information while researching.
We DO use artificial intelligence:
- To assist in the editing process, such as by identifying spelling or punctuation errors. We do, however, apply manual editing beyond that.
- To assist in the research process as a starting point that directs us to more substantial sources of information.
Regarding artwork used in our posts, we do use copyright-free images from sources such as Pixabay. Some of these may be AI-generated.
